Greenwood Mail & Dispatch is much bigger than its Ballard parent. It has more PO boxes, a bigger coffee counter, more table seating, and their "laptop bar" is nonpareil. I'd even swear that it's got a better stereo.

Several local restaurants — including Szmania's, Austin Cantina, Crow, Oriental Mart and Joule — offer counter seating where you can not only eat a great meal but watch the kitchen action.

People might be forgiven for skipping a restaurant with the improbable name of Señor Moose Café, housed in the first floor of a weathered, 108-year-old wooden building on Northwest Leary Avenue. But they would be missing out on some excellent, moderately priced food.

Somewhere in Georgetown right now, you'll find a bright yellow lunch truck that is the rolling home of Hallava Falafel. Walk around Georgetown until you find it. Then walk purposefully up to its window and order one of the best freaking shwarmas you've had in this town.

Gentle Snark
On the first Bastille Day in 1790, scores of Parisians gathered on the Champ de Mars to celebrate the end of the French Revolution. It took four days for the last straggler to sober up and go home. The modern-day equivalent of that holiday is a decidedly more sober and less naked affair, but that's not to say you can't have a lot of fun celebrating Bastille Day here in Seattle. We've got the wine, after all. The rest should come easy.
