What We Crave
We love a bargain, and the lunch specials at lower Queen Anne's Phuket really get us smiling.

What We Crave
Our non-Seattleite friends love to regale us with tall tales of the best barbecue they've ever had -- always, of course, somewhere far from here. Seattle isn't exactly known for its barbecue joints, but we have some tales of our own thanks to Roy's BBQ, a tiny cafe tucked away in Columbia City.

What We Crave
As each glorious summer afternoon unfurls, there's nothing better than heading down the steps from the Pike Place Market and tucking yourself into the grotto-like patio at the Zig Zag Café for one of Murray Stenson's expertly crafted mojitos.

What We Crave
There's nothing like strawberry ice cream to cool you down on a hot summer day. But we crave an enormous scoop of Molly Moon's balsamic strawberry ice cream in any weather.

What We Crave
We don't know a much better way to patiently await this year's
summer-come-lately than to slip into the softly lit lounge of Licorous
on Capitol Hill and sink our teeth into a smoked white bean tartine.

What We Crave
"You crave what? Red bean paste?" You might think we're crazy,
but we don't mind. We're happy to let you eat all of the fluffy coconut
buns or pineapple rolls. We'll chow down on Mee Sum Pastry's sesame seed balls.

What We Crave
The mini duck burgers at Wallingford's Tilth
should come with a warning: once you've tasted one of these little sliders, you'll be
ruined for all other burgers.

What We Crave
Happy hour at Dragonfish Asian Cafe
has long been a magnet for downtown workers looking for a cure for the
9-to-5 blues. The $2 sushi half-rolls and $3 cocktails get most of the
press, but it's the delicate little cubes of ahi bathed in a light soy
and sesame sauce, and flecked with fresh little sprigs of cilantro and
chives, that really get us smiling.

What We Crave
Maybe it's the smoky strips of thick-cut bacon or the enormous, juicy
chunks of chicken that escape their sandwich confines like a teenager
skipping out on curfew. Then again, it could be the gooey jack cheese,
heaps of caramelized onions and healthy slather of spicy secret sauce
that all melt together to create their own lusty affair.

What We Crave
On days when we just need a sweet little something-something, we head to Casuelitas Island Soul in the Central District for light-as-air coconut cornbread ($1 each).
