If Macrina is on your list of errands this week, today is the day to do it. To celebrate their 15th birthday, they're handing out a free brown sugar shortbread cookie to everyone who walks in the door.
These little babies are normally sold frosted in $3.75 packages of four, so it's a great way to get a little taste of the love. I called the Queen Anne store to make sure they'll still be stocked in case you can't make it until after work. "Don't worry," the bakery's Lisa Russell told me, "we baked billions."
They'll also be selling their signature Giuseppe loaves (normally $4.15) at half price all week until Sept. 3. And on Sept. 18, another birth will take place: the opening of a new SODO café and production facility at 1943 First Ave. S.
