UPDATED August 8, 2008

Okay, so you'll never hear someone at Denny's use the word "sourced." But many chain restaurants offer family bargains when it comes to eating out. It's rare (in our area) for independents to offer reduced or free fare -- most simply don't need to.

Sometimes, you just want someone else to make the stinkin' grilled cheese sandwich. Below are places to pick up a free (or lower-priced) kid's meal for those nights. Most only offer these deals to children under age 12, and with the purchase of an adult-sized item.

Please call to check, if you're reading this entry after September -- days and times can change. As an example, Olive You no longer offers kids eat free Mondays.

Here's the list:

Denny's (Georgetown): Kids eat free on Tuesday and Saturday nights between 4 and 10 p.m.

Hooters (South Lake Union): Kids eat free on Sundays from 11 a.m. on. Yeah, well, I didn't say you had to go.

The Ram Restaurant and Bighorn Brewery (U District and Northgate): Kids eat for $1, off the children's menu every Monday night.

Shari's (North Seattle): Kids eat free between 4 and 10 p.m. nightly, until Sept. 1.

Taco Del Mar (Everywhere Varies by location): Kids eat free on Sundays, all day.

Todai (Downtown): Kids eat free every day, if they're under 3 feet tall.

Tony Roma's (Northgate): Kids eat free on Sundays, from 11 a.m. on.

If you find yourself on the Eastside or at a mall, see the Ruby Slipper Guide's list of free eats.
