When I am out with Gub, I tend to hit the same places again and again, lunch spots included. There aren't a lot of options with a toddler that also please me, so I was glad to remember Grand Central Bakery and Cafe when we were in Pioneer Square this afternoon.
Gub was famished and getting delirious, and I was ready to sit down after carrying her in the backpack for hours. The big seating area at Grand Central had plenty of tables, even at lunch hour, and there was even a highchair available.
The last time I ate there, Gub was still eating mush, so I hadn't noticed that they have a couple of items specifically for kids. Aside from a wide range of sandwiches such as turkey or tuna that adults and kids would love, they have grilled cheese and pb&j available as sack lunches for $4.50.
We went for the grilled cheese, which came with a bag of Tim's potato chips, a pickle and a cookie the size of Gub's face. I knew she wouldn't be able to eat it all, so I ordered myself a half basil egg salad sandwich, which she liked as much or more than her cheesey one, and polished off what she couldn't eat. We both felt fortified for the rest of our day.
