No Monday blues for me this week. I'm quitting on the early side tomorrow to drive out to Woodinville's Purple Café & Wine Bar to get the week off to a rosier start.

Our local wine industry is so blazing hot right now, we've got a new winery opening in Washington state an average of every six days. Purple will host a tasting with four of the area's brightest rising stars: Woodinville standouts Darby Winery and Efeste Wine CellarsO'Shea Scarborough Winery, which got its start in a Queen Anne garage; and Steppe Cellars, a Yakima Valley winery specializing in German varietals.

The food and wine will flow from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $50 and reservations can be made at 206-838-3853.

Where will you be eating this week? E-mail cellerd@gmail.com.
