Red bean paste is the sweet surprise in Mee Sum Pastry's sesame seed balls

"You crave what? Red bean paste?" You might think we're crazy, but we don't mind. We're happy to let you eat all of the fluffy coconut buns or pineapple rolls. We'll chow down on Mee Sum Pastry's sesame seed balls ($1.50 each). Like oversized doughnut holes, these little treats are fried slightly crispy on the outside, holding in an airy but chewy pastry and a surprisingly sweet and dense red bean paste reminiscent of a Fig Newton. Sesame seeds garnish the sugary snack, adding a nutty bite that makes them nearly impossible to resist.
