New in town, looking for bars or places to go to meet people who are friendly, any suggestions?
just looking to make some friends in a new place, and since drinking loosens me up socially.............

Some Seattle bars are designed to create interaction between patrons. Greenwood's Prost and Eastlake's Feierabend have long tables that seat strangers next to each other, where they have no choice but to mix it up. I haven't yet visited Belltown's Spur, but it's said to be the same way. Tiny, intimate bars like South Lake Union's Venik Lounge and Ballard's Hazlewood are also great places to meet people.
With all of the diverse neighborhoods and culture in Seattle, this is a singles mecca in a sense. Since I moved here 2 years ago, I've found there to be a sense of 'youngness' here coupled with culture and artistic individuals.
Of course, bars and etc really depend upon what 'types' of people you're looking to meet and what music/activities you enjoy. Many of the smaller local bars in the Fremont/Ballard area are great places to meet others. The Ballroom www.ballroomfremont.com is a low key place that livens up in the evening and goes from a necessary beer and pool hall to a DJ, dance floor and lots of sexy people visiting, dancing and flirting.
Another thing you may want to do is join some of the local groups on Live Journal for updates on various group activities in the area. Live music shows, pool halls, breweries, art openings for the creative, little red door events for the kink in you.
Coming out of the Roosevelt/Ravenna neck of the woods...
I really enjoy Pies 'n Pints and Teddy's: both on 65th and a hoot and a half.
