I'm sure you've noticed that Seattle's attitude toward Oklahoma isn't very positive these days. A mention of Oklahoma might be followed by a strong expletive, a groan or a grim shake of the head. Because, in case you haven't been paying attention, Oklahoma is the state where our Seattle Supersonics have moved to -- or the state that stole them, depending on who you talk to. Well, here's some good news for sports fans: You have not one, but two, chances in the next few weeks to get your Oklahoma animosity out of your system.

This is a great time of year for pies. Berries are plump, juicy and ready for picking. And pies are the perfect picnic food, since they can be eaten right out of the tin they're baked in -- no need for plates! But if you're baking-challenged like me, leave it to professionals such as chef Jenny Christensen to provide the pie. Christensen runs Pies by Jenny, a stall at the University District Farmers Market. Since last December, her pies have been selling like hotcakes.

Women will go to great lengths for a good pedicure. I recently heard a report on NPR about a spa in Virginia that has tanks filled with small carp that nibble away at the dead skin on the feet of their customers. Ewwwwww! It may be effective, but I know there are more pleasant ways to exfoliate. My favorite method is a nice, sweet-smelling sugar scrub, and my newest discovery is Sweet Nina's Revive sugar body polish with invigorating essential oils of ginger and grapefruit.

Nothing doing tonight? Go check out the Sounds of Summer Concert Series at University Village. We've gone several times in the past few years and had a funktacular time. One note: bring a hat, sunglasses and possibly earplugs. The shows can get hot, bright and very noisy. In a fun way, of course.

Every month, museums across the city open their doors on First Thursday, and parents and tots can enter for free. And every month, I'll bring you the best aspects of a new museum. This month, the spotlight is on the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, located at the University of Washington.
