The Seattle Times story on Sunday about www.icanhascheezburger.com is the first I've heard of the Seattle-based Web site that reportedly "achieved cult status" by posting cat photos with brain-bending captions in a sort of baby talk/text-message language known as lolspeak, or, according to a fascinating Lolcat entry on Wikipedia, "Kitty Pidgin." (At least I knew that LOL stands for laugh out loud.)
According to the news story, the icanhascheezburger fan base brings together software engineers with "women who love cats." After viewing several pages, I wondered if uniting these groups was such a good idea. After viewing a few more, i thort thiz gawtz me giggl. But it may just be that I jammed the syntax responders in my brain.
Dog lovers are also no strangers to deconstructing the language. Check out at www.ihasahotdog.com.
