Canadian cosmetics company Cargo, known mostly for their metal tins filled with dewy lip gloss, is branching out into the gardening world with a new line of lipsticks.
PlantLove sheer and glossy lipsticks ($20 each) arrive in a carton made of flower paper that is embedded with wildflower seeds. You simply moisten the box, plant it in a sunny spot and watch the wildflowers grow. And it isn't just the carton that's earth-friendly. The pretty, compostable lipstick cases are made from corn using a greenhouse-gas-neutral process that doesn't contribute to global warming.
Cargo enlisted the help of celebrities to design 11 of the 20 PlantLove shades, so you can choose from the likes of Lindsay, a sheer pink cream from Lindsay Lohan; Mariska, a sheer warm nude cream from Mariska Hargitay; or Evangeline, a sheer coral cream from Evangeline Lilly; plus five shades designed by famous moms and named for their children, such as Sam and Lola by Denise Richards. In addition, nine lipsticks are named for "places of ecological beauty."
Cargo PlantLove lipsticks are sold online and in person at Sephora. Two dollars from the sale of every lipstick goes to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
