Neil Silverman has had the corner on Fremont since 1997 when he opened Dream boutique smack-dab in the Center of the Universe. Bliss arrived six months later across the street, and since then, he and partner John Tseng have been outfitting the neighborhood with trendy, affordable and accessible clothing and accessories.

This dynamic duo has turned their two-sided retail empire into a tripod with the arrival of their newest boutique, Finch & Sparrow, located to the east of the two stores on Fremont Avenue East.

Where Dream caters to a more sophisticated and classic dresser and Bliss to a trendier, sexier one, Finch & Sparrow targets the 20- to 30-something woman who likes to look cute, but is on a tighter budget.

"The Finch & Sparrow shopper dresses in a Northwest contemporary style," explains Silverman. "She's the one who wants cute new things all the time, like a new handbag each season, but who can't afford high prices."

Finch & Sparrow, which soft-launched on Oct. 16 and will have a grand opening the day after Thanksgiving, carries accessories such as jewelry, footwear, handbags and apothecary. Most items will be private label, similar to both Bliss and Dream, but Silverman has also brought on lines from local designers including Bijoudally and Wire Tree jewelry and comfortable, chic yoga-inspired clothing from Nala Seattle. Most items I spied were under $100, with handbags hovering in the $50-$60 range. Some boots may spike to $350 on rare occasion, with most coming in at under $200.

While Finch & Sparrow's inventory might be "comfortably priced," as Silverman puts it, that doesn't mean it lacks style. Scarves and hats, which range between $28 and $38, have sweet details like buttons and rosettes that give them a pricier feel. "Our inventory looks like Anthropologie, but at half the price," says Silverman.

The store is designed with an eco-friendly aesthetic in mind, from bamboo floors to compact fluorescent lighting, and features slate tile and teak accents throughout.

Finch & Sparrow is located at 3420 Fremont Ave. N., Seattle 98103, 206-547-3670, http://finchnsparrow.blogspot.com/. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
