Local designer Sam Trout hosts his first trunk show

With the demise of the Crocodile Café, it wasn't just fans of live music and greasy breakfasts who lost a neighborhood spot. Seattle's crafty culture felt the hit too, because the Crocodile had served as the home of I Heart Rummage, a monthly gathering of do-it-yourself designers.

But like many of the aforementioned concertgoers, I Heart Rummage has simply moved on to another local club. On March 2 (noon-4 p.m.), the urban craft market will debut at its new home, Capitol Hill's Chop Suey.

In addition to finding a new home for I Heart Rummage, co-curator Sam Trout has been launching his own new designs for men, including Evolve ($45) a blood-red polo adorned with an arm patch and emblazoned with a white silk-screened bird motif. The Seek Truth T-shirt ($30) features a male reporter in front of a Capitol Hill cityscape; and the navy blue, made-to-order Pinstripes shirt ($50) is striped with the color combinations of your choice.

Trout will showcase his latest designs March 1 at his first trunk show at Queen Anne's Bouncing Wall, where you can also find his apparel. Sam Trout clothing is also sold at Ballard's 20/Twenty and online at www.samtrout.com.
