Origami Bjiou jewelry turns over a new leaf
Created by paper artist Cindy Ng, the new line features pendants and earrings inspired by origami

RSS for Holiday 2007Origami artist Cindy Ng, who built her business, Finger Magic, on whimsical, three-dimensional forms made out of paper, has now upgraded from paper to fine metals with her new line, Origami Bijou. With deft and delicate fingers, Ng transforms thin sheets of silver into everything from frogs and bunnies to fortune cookies and castles.
Finger Magic is based in Hayward, Calif., but Ng's folded creations are available locally at Kobo, a Japanese artisan boutique with locations in Capitol Hill and the International District.
Kobo stocks a selection of origami pendants and earrings from Ng's Good Luck Critters series, on which cranes, the Japanese symbol for longevity, grace silver chains and pearl necklaces ($75-$115), and tiny cranes dangle gracefully in hoop earrings ($75-$95.) Also on hand is a delightful pair of windmill earrings ($75), which are meant to symbolize a positive turn of luck.
