No need to give the West Seattle gift-wrap shop paper, the traditional first-anniversary present – it's already got plenty

West Seattle gift-wrap emporium Swee Swee Paperie and Studio will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a weekend full of festivities, including discounts, bubbly and -- rumor has it -- delicious homemade biscotti.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29-30, prices on Swee Swee's entire selection of cards, gift wrap and paper goods will be reduced by 10 to 20 percent. Look for cards from emerging labels like Apiary Design and Wiley Valentine, plus Whimsy Press gift wrap so artsy that Swee Swee owner Ann Conway frames and displays it as artwork. Though not discounted for the celebration, Swee Swee's custom design and printing services are also well worth a look.
Seattle artist and former textile designer Herman Yu will be on hand Saturday afternoon to showcase a new year of her gorgeous calendar series. Gift-wrapping demonstrations will take place both days at 2 p.m., and those already looking ahead to the holidays will enjoy a sneak peek at the shop's holiday card selection, marked down 10 percent.
Swee Swee is at 4218 S.W. Alaska St.; 206-937-7933. Visit the store online at www.sweesweepaperie.com.
