In response to the condos and apartments popping up all over town -- particularly in South Lake Union, Ballard and Belltown -- the folks behind the Pacific Interiors furniture showroom in Greenwood have opened City Home Store on Capitol Hill, with merchandise geared toward small living spaces.
The 5,000 square feet of City Home Store, which opened in September, are packed with furniture of a smaller-than-average scale, such as tall, skinny dressers and low-slung beds, plus a variety of home-décor accessories and gifts -- if you're the kind of person who gives Kama Sutra Kits ($36-$45) as gifts. The eclectic selection is organized by rotating color schemes; current combos include aqua and chocolate, plum and mustard, and black and white.
Highlights include Dreamsacks bamboo bedding ($48-$260), boldly colored retro desk fans ($75) in oranges, pinks, purples and blues from DecoBreeze and a lacquered purple horn sconce ($210).
The back of the store carries floor coverings, with a large selection of area rugs in wool, berber and other hearty weaves ($300-$900.) A 3-foot-high stack of small rugs in a variety of colors and prints, priced as low as $39, is well worth the dig.
City Home Store is at 517 E. Pike St. Visit the store online at www.city-home-store.com.
