Thursday afternoon, my kids and I hit the University Village Sidewalk Sale. Great stuff! At Village Maternity, I saw Mei-tei-style baby carriers, maternity wear and infant swimsuits, plus $10 bins of baby and toddler gear.

I picked up some Tea boy-pants, for more than 50 percent off the original price. Tip: More Tea T-shirts and shorts are inside for tots under 24 months, directly to the left of Village Maternity's door.

Kid's Club offered bins and bins and bins of puzzles, science kits, dolls and other tempting toys. Oh, and even more baby carriers.

Near Kid's Club and the playground: Hanna Andersson's Scandinavian-inspired clothing, stacked on cherry-red tablecloths and hung from racks.

I wondered whether they'd completely run out of clothes and gear by Sunday, and the clerk at Village Maternity confided that they keep backup boxes of sale goods in back.

However, they can't fish out items upon request. Yes, I asked. And then I asked again. But...no.

I guess we'll just have to return.
