The idea for water-resistant baby blankets was born of necessity in our somewhat soggy city. Heather Correa -- herself a mother -- designed All-Weather Woobees, warm and cozy baby blankets, for our unpredictable precipitation. The blankets are made with minky, plush or faux fur fabric on one side and water-resistant nylon fabric on the reverse side. Babies keep dry, and parents can go about their business and activities without worrying.

"Short of putting them in a puddle, they stay dry," says Correa, who sells the blankets under the These Two Girls label for $70.

The blankets are 30 inches by 36 inches and come in a variety of cool colors and hip prints. There are Woobees in soft mint, lilac, and pink with chocolate trim; leopard and cow prints; and brights such as turquoise trimmed with red and tangerine orange trimmed with purple. Strategically-placed contrasting ties keep blankets in place—tie them to the stroller and go.

Equally amazing are the burp cloths ($12) and bibs ($18). According to Correa, the fabric absorbs seven times its weight in liquid. Surely that will keep baby, and you, dry. Available at Essenza, Clover, Boston Street Children's Everything Store, Rising Stars and allweatherwoobee.com.
