Housed in an airy storefront with baby-blue walls and cheery wood floors, Buggy boutique has wheeled affordable style for kids onto Beacon Hill. The new shop carries a carefully chosen array of used clothing for children up to 6 years old, as well as some new shoes, silk-screened shirts and gifts.

Buggy's owners are choosy about selecting used clothes, which means the racks of onesies, frocks and cords here are clean and in good condition, with shirts for around $5 and pants for about $10. Also on hand: Flower Children Handknits, a line of refurbished vintage hand-knit sweaters that sell for $30 each.

Those who sell clothing to Buggy receive 40 percent of the value of their clothes (as determined by the shop's buyers) in store credit, or 30 percent in cash.

Among the new clothing at Buggy are silk-screened organic knits from Portland's A Little Lark ($26 for an organic onesie); new rain boots ($29); soft-soled, hand-stitched shoes by Livie & Luca ($40); and felt slippers by Little Deer ($21).

Playtime and bathtime vignettes are artfully arranged throughout the store. You might discover a wooden arctic snow scene complete with igloo and sled ($40), or a trio of bubble bath, lotion, and baby wash by Little Twig ($40).

Buggy is at 3315 Beacon Ave. S.; 206-325-5999. Visit the store online at www.buggybeacon.com.
