If I had a pet, it would be a French bulldog named Otis, and I like to think that he would have the fashion sense of, say, Andre 3000 or Kanye West. And when I went in search of the stylish clothes I would dress him in, I would head to Buster & Sullivan, the new dog boutique at University Village.

Buster & Sullivan is the, ahem, pet project of Seattle native Sydney Cicourel and her daughters, Chelsea and Courtney. With two Southern California stores (one in star-studded Malibu, the other in Manhattan Beach), the Cicourel family has already made a name for itself outfitting celebrity canines.

The L.A. influence is strong. Leashes from rock-and-roll designer Robbie French are fabulously studded and over the top (from $155), and a line of faux designer chew toys ($13-$18) poke fun at the label-obsessed (Bark Jacobs, Chewy Vuitton). Buster & Sullivan also carries trendy carryalls from Petote ($230-$355) and the Juicy Couture line for dogs, which features fur-trimmed hoodies ($45-$75) and logoed dog bowls ($55).

The University Village store also stocks a fair share of Northwest-friendly attire in camouflage and fleece. And it wouldn't truly be a Seattle shop without a smattering of sarcastic tees: "Don't Bug this Pug," "I Heart Bitches," etc. Be sure to head to the back of the store for a fully stocked bakery case and an art exhibit featuring custom pet portraits by Sydney Cicourel.

As for me, while the idea of a well-dressed canine companion is tempting, my attachment to my shoe collection and unwillingness to share closet space mean it's unlikely that Otis will ever become a reality.

Buster & Sullivan is at 2616 N.E. Village Lane; 206-524-6825. Visit the store online at www.busterandsullivan.com.
