Save big at January clearance sales

In my opinion, the best part of the holidays happens when they're over -- when local boutiques slash prices in January in preparation for the arrival of spring inventory. Most sales end when the discounted merchandise runs out, but it's a good idea to call the store for specific dates.

Here are a few January sales that we think are worthy of your Christmas cash.

A Mano and Tulip
Downtown shoe shop A Mano and its neighbor, women's boutique Tulip, offer a one-two punch for Seattle shoppers. Find discounts of 30 percent and more on items from Vena Cava, Chie Mihara and Cydwoq, just to name a few.

Canopy Blue
With new arrivals from Andrea Brueckner and Loeffler Randall on their way, this Madison Park boutique will offer 25 to 75 percent discounts on Tory Burch tunics, Theory pants, Diane von Furstenberg dresses and more.

Duque Salon + Spa + Boutique
The Ballard boutique-slash-salon boasts an eclectic selection of fashions, accessories and beauty products that will all be discounted up to 75 percent Jan. 12-31. Enjoy deep markdowns on For Love and Liberty apparel and the ever-popular Hanky Panky undies.

La Rousse
Enjoy savings of 30 to 50 percent on everything at Amanda Rosenthal's Belltown boutique, including merchandise from American Retro, Anna Sui, Karen Walker and Pine IV.

Mario's
The downtown boutique offers deep discounts on luxe labels. Highlights include Tory Burch boots for $158 (originally $395) and a jersey Prada turtleneck for $118 (originally $295).

Merge
All fall and holiday merchandise is marked down at this hip boutique, which recently relocated from Ballard to Fremont. Chaiken party dresses, Habitual denim and more are marked down up to 40 percent.

Olivine
Ballard Avenue's Olivine cuts prices by 30 to 70 percent on winter clothing, shoes, accessories and beauty products. Score deals on merchandise from Susana Monaco, Liquid, G1, Dace and many more.

Polite Society
This downtown boutique for men and women, which focuses on independent designers, offers discounts of up to 35 percent on holiday and winter merchandise.

Posh on Main
Head to the Eastside and score boots and shoes from Loeffler Randall, Sigerson Morrison, Lanvin and Bally at up to 50 percent off the original prices.
