Summer in Seattle means Seafair, neighborhood festivals and sidewalk sales. The nice weather brings people out of hibernation and shops spill out onto the sidewalk to entice buyers with deeply discounted merchandise. Below is a list of the major sidewalk sales happening in Seattle neighborhoods this summer.
June 19-22, University Village
University Village kicks off the sidewalk sale season with their 51st annual sale. The spacious garage means that shoppers can park easily and enjoy discounts from a range of stores. Improve your surfer style at Coastal Surf Boutique; search for sophisticated home furnishings at Miller-Pollard Interiors; snap up sweet, silly kids' stuff at Land of Nod; and find deals galore at lifestyle store Anthropologie. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
July 10-12, Madison Park
Madison Park's annual sale takes place on East Madison Street from McGilvra Boulevard East to 43rd Avenue East. Spruce up your culinary toolbox with kitchen gadgets from Cookin'; find tailored clothing at Yankee Peddler; and peruse refined gifts at Martha Harris. Hours vary.
July 11-13, West Seattle
Part of West Seattle Summerfest, which features live music and food, this sidewalk sale runs along California Avenue Southwest from Southwest Edmunds Street to Southwest Oregon Street, and Southwest Alaska Street from 42nd Avenue Southwest to 44th Avenue Southwest. Snatch up stylish women's clothes from Sweetie and Carmilia's and complete your outfit with shoes from Edie's and Clementine; find adorable high-end kids clothes and shoes at Georgia Blu; score deals on tasteful home furnishings and accessories at Capers; and discover art supplies at Northwest Art & Frame. Hours vary.
July 19, Queen Anne
Join Queen Anne merchants for a day of discounts that coincides with Queen Anne Helpline's 23rd Annual Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk and parade. Don your shopping shoes and go the distance on Queen Anne Avenue North between West Galer Street and McGraw Street. Support local artists and designers at Bouncing Wall; stock your game room at Blue Highway Games; outfit your favorite guy with cool clothing from Oslo's; and find some summer reading at Queen Anne Books. Hours vary.
