But the Crave Spring Market Party, from noon to 4 p.m. June 1 at Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion, is nothing to stress about, particularly since there will be plenty of opportunities for pampering.

In the spacious storefront, the dove-gray walls are a perfect foil to the brightly colored furniture, home accessories, art, kids' gear and garden stuff contained within.

Walking into new Georgetown shop Great Stuff Vintage Furnishings is like sliding down the rabbit hole -- you just never know what you're going to find. On a recent visit, I spied a vibrant yellow 1930s wooden toy duck from a Tacoma shoe store ($625) alongside a breathtaking ornamental column from the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland ($9,500).

When I moved into my townhouse, I had my bedroom painted what I thought would be a very muted salmon. And with seriously dimmed lights, my bedroom is a very muted salmon. But in the light of day, my walls more closely resemble an unfortunate South Beach coral.
