At the brink of Hell, there's always Hope

HOPE, B.C. -- Oddly, nobody in town seems to know how Hope got its name.

Four or five theories have been tossed around over the years, but the only one that seems to make any sense is a dictionary definition that describes "hope" as "a small enclosed valley -- especially an upland part of the valley" or "slope of the hill."
